I did this as part of a commission for Envirothon test materials. The client wanted a simple and easy to understand illustration of the different places one should trim a tree. The student has to choose which branches are the correct ones to trim. It was important to the client that she be able to print it at a large size without distortion so I used Illustrator to create a vector image that is infinitely scalable.
