I was able to see Sarracenia purpurea in person in the Pine Barrens and it was a life changing experience. Being able to look inside the pitchers and admire the environment it interacts with was amazing. I wanted to better understand how the pitcher plant relates to all of the tiny creatures around it so I started researching and researching. I eventually compiled all of my research into this illustration. I loved being able to represent so many relationships in one piece. Most of the credit for the original research goes to Marc. A. Milne, a name that came up on almost all the literature involving spiders and the purple pitcher plant in papers.
